IT Girls began in 2016 as a vision of founder Aya Fubara Eneli. What started as a mentorship initiative at South Belton Middle School grew into the first annual IT Girls conference at Central Texas College, where 125 girls gathered to learn, connect, and imagine more for themselves.
Since then, IT Girls has reached more than 620 girls. What has grown is not only the number of participants, but also the community surrounding them: mentors, educators, professionals, families, partners, and supporters who believe girls deserve meaningful investment now, not someday.
Our mission is to create a nurturing environment where girls ages 10–18 can develop confidence, strengthen their voices, explore new possibilities, and become thoughtful leaders in their schools, careers, and communities.
We give girls opportunities to speak, choose, lead, and recognize the strength they already carry.
We introduce practical skills, career possibilities, and experiences that expand what girls know about the world.
We connect girls with women, workplaces, and ideas that make ambitious futures feel visible and achievable.
We surround girls with mentors, peers, and a sisterhood they can continue returning to as they grow.
A girl is more willing to try when she knows that making a mistake will not cost her place in the room.

IT Girls is strengthened by a community of board members, mentors, educators, professionals, volunteers, families, and partners. Each person contributes something different, but they share one responsibility: helping girls receive the support, exposure, and opportunity they deserve.

Girls don’t need a perfect role model. They need a trusted woman who listens, encourages them, and returns. Commit approximately six hours a month to support girls throughout the program year.
